Challenge:
To capture the essence of a moment’s peace, in a ‘third place’. I selected this cafe in Soho, tucked away from the busy crowds.
Approach:
I practised observational drawing and kept a visual journal to develop my mark-making skills. When in the cafe, it was important for me to feel relaxed and embody the moment of peace that I wanted to capture.
Result:
The illustration captured the moment well with joyful marks and a sense of freedom. It was selected for display at the Urban Sketchers London 2025 exhibition, where it sold.
